Me

Alright so this post is about me.

Here's what is going on in my life right now:

I'm attending college at Cal State San Marcos as an Undeclared major, and I think that I want to major in Liberal Studies and become a high school teacher.  Well, what I really want to do is major in Architecture after transferring to Cal Poly SLO or Pomona, but that's a lot of money that I don't have and it is very hard to transfer in to the Architecture program there.

I'm working part-time at Panera, saving up for who knows what.  Well, I know what.  My dream car is a '67 Shelby Mustang GT500, with a gray paintjob and black stripes, otherwise known as 'Eleanor,' if any of you have seen the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds," that is the final car in the movie (the one where he jumps the traffic on the bridge).  However, since those usually run well over $100,000, a more reasonable car for me would be a '69 Ford Mustang.

I'm playing guitar in a band at my church.  We play Wednesday nights for the 6th grader's and yeah, obviously it's not an amazing venue, but I started getting more serious about learning guitar about a week before I tried out for the band, and I've gotten at least 3 times better than I was when I started playing for the band in September, so it has helped me out a lot.  Anyways, I hope to keep getting better and eventually purchase a nice acoustic guitar.

I'm hoping to get more into photography.  I have a camera, a Panasonic Lumix digital camera that's about 4 years old that I can use as a beginner camera.  I'll probably start by just taking some pictures of my guitar and truck or some of my friends to get used to the settings and then eventually start taking scenic pictures.  Keep checking back as this blog may easily turn into a photography blog as well as what's going on in my life.

I just finished my last final today so I'm class-free for about a month!  I have a secret goal over this month that I will reveal later on if I achieve it.  Hopefully this month I have off will allow me more time to blog and figure out more about how to use this website.

I just got photoshop and decided to begin messing around with it... it's actually really confusing compared to paint but there's so many more things to do that I think it's worth learning.  Anyways, in tribute to Quantum of Solace which I just saw (the new James Bond movie), I decided to make a quick image and see how it turned out.  (I think it turned out decent for a first attempt... but let me know if you like it or what I can improve, please!)

I'm having my Eagle Scout Court of Honor this Sunday.  I got Eagle Scout a while ago, but it's tradition to have a ceremony to celebrate me getting the rank of Eagle.  Basically, it's the highest rank in Scouting, and although most people pass off Eagle Scouts as guys who know how to light fires and that's about it... it actually takes a lot of effort and leadership to become one.  I won't go into it in too much detail, but for my final project I sent over 330 bibles and around 85 pieces of sports equipment to Kenya... all arranged through donations... and the worst part about it was that I had to lead the whole thing while depending on others to actually go and collect the donations, which is hard for me to do since I am a very do-it-myself type of person.  Anyways, I'm pretty excited to have a lot of friends and family show up to see me get the award and then enjoy some BBQ with afterwards.  Maybe I'll bring my camera and take some pictures, who knows.

It's really late... or early... whatever you'd like to consider it.  I should get some sleep so I am going to end this blog, and I'll write another one as soon as I get a chance.

Exordium

Hello to anyone who may happen to stumble across this webpage. Thanks for (hopefully) taking the time to read whatever I actually put on here. Anyways, I never really considered myself one of those 'blogger' types. The kind of people who (I always thought) need to consistently let everyone know what they are doing as a plea for attention or possibly, just looking for someone to listen. However, I've come to realize it as more of a personal channel to express my own thoughts and experiences (especially since I will probably be the only one who sees this page, for a while anyways) and have the ability to come back anytime and rethink my previous thoughts I have posted here or see how my mind is developing (or un-developing... if that's a word...)

Anyways, as this is considered "Exordium" or, "the beginning" I figured I would repute what got me even considering blogging. I don't know if many (or any) of you have heard of a show called "quarterlife," but it started out as an online community @ www.quarterlife.com mainly for thinkers, writers, actors, artists, etc. that eventually had a series of webisodes (basically a TV show - weekly episodes, usually shorter in length and less costly - that only appears online). Well, after those got popular, it became the first webisode based show to debut on live primetime TV. It debuted on NBC, which is where I was introduced to it. Randomly flipping channels, a cute blonde girl who was singing caught my eye (double whammy... hey, I'm a guy, it's expected of me...) so I stopped for a while to watch it. Eventually the story started unwinding and I started understanding all the characters (what anyone does with a fictional TV show) and I realized it was centered around young adults, some still taking classes at college and others just entering into their careers - exactly where I hope to be in around 4 years. The purpose of the show is creativity, examining yourself, your surroundings, interacting with others, learning how to express your emotions and thoughts - all of which are necessary in life. Anyways, enough about quarterlife. Now you know what inspired me to blog.

It's 1:24 a.m. currently and I'm up about 2 hours and 24 minutes later than I probably should be, seeing how I have to get up at 6:15. Anyways, I will be blogging here to record my thoughts and experiences, occasionally posting cool things to check out/good bands/etc... maybe some pictures now and again. This isn't meant to please anyone, I'm writing this for me. If you agree or disagree with my thoughts or enjoy what I have to say, please, by all means keep coming back and commenting letting me know that you've read it and what your thoughts on my entries are.

"The moment we begin to fear the opinions of others and hesitate to tell the truth that is in us, and from motives of policy are silent when we should speak, the divine floods of light and life no longer flow into our souls."
Elizabeth Cady Stanton

I'm not sure how often I will be able to blog. Hopefully often. I think my next blog will be on a fairly basic quote: "You don't have to make the headlines to make a difference." So look forward to that. Until then, enjoy life, take nothing for granted, let people know you love them, and pay it forward.
